Jessica Drew, along with Julia Carpenter (SW2) and Mattie Franklin (SW3), have all been transported together by Cassandra Webb (Madame Webb). As she explains the reason for this gathering, she informs the others that there is another Spider-Woman (SW4), Charlotte Witter. Madame Web assigns Jessica and Mattie to find SW4 and destroy her if necessary and adds that there can only one Spider-Woman out of the four. As Jessica and Mattie start to search for SW4, they start getting to know each other and somewhat start developing a bond. Jessica decides to go where SW4 was last cited and with Madame Webb's help, Webb picks up SW4's slender thread ofpsychic emanations (trail) to follow in the city. The trail leads Jessica and Mattie to an abandoned building (described as an old Brownstone) in Greewich Village. They get attacked be SW4. Jessica attempts to shoot (with a gun) SW4 only to have her "cheek torn to the bone." SW4 goes on to say that it was a mistake for her to let them live when she took their powers, but she is to correct that mistake. Jessica get's thrown out a window only to be found be Detective Rodriguez of NYPD. He calls for backup and shoots SW4 with barely any affects. SW4 grabs Mattie to escape to the top of the abandoned building only to find Spider-Man swinging and kicking her off of Mattie. SW4 hypnotizes Spider-Man and Mattie tries to save him only to get thrown down again. Madame Webb appears before Mattie and tells her that the powers that SW4 stole are rightfuly hers from the Gathering of Five. Madame Webb tells Mattie she need to concentrate and focus to reclaim her powers. SW4 feels her powers draining and as she attacks Mattie, there's a flash of light and SW4 is down. Jessica sees the flash of light and runs towards Mattie and finds Spider-Man and Webb watching over them. Jessica check SW4 and indicates she's back to normal and Madame Webb tells Mattie she has reclaimed her powers.

This storyline has way too many spiders to give you the creepy crawlies. I'm still asking myself why are there four Spider-Women. In any case we are following the storyline of Jessica Drew, the original Spider-Woman.

Jessica finds Mattie (SW3) on a roof top with Detective Rodriguez swatting Spider-Man like a paper doll. As Jessica tries to console her, a metamorpahsis occurs and Mattie grows four spider legs out fo her back and strikes Jessica down. Unable to control her regained powers, SW3 escapes. Madame Web reveals herself and tells Jessica that SW4 is her grand daughter. Doc Octopus and psychic controlled SW3 attack Jessica and Spider-Man. Meanwhile Madame Web finds her grand daughter SW4 who is behind the psychic control of SW3. During their course of familial discontent, SW3 regains control of herself and takes down Doc Octopus with the help Spider-Man. Jessica tells SW3 she earned the right to be called Spider-Woman.

Jessica is summond by Madame Webb together with Detective Rodriguez and Julia SW2. Madame Webb tell the story about the Gathering of Five (the joinin fragments of five mystical objects) and the promise of great power. Madame Webb received Immortality and Mattie received the Absolute Power. SW4 gets swallowed by the Flesh and Bones villian.
